Redlands Police Investigate String of Home Burglaries, Business Thefts and Hit-and-Run with RV

REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police are investigating a series of residential burglaries and business thefts reported over the past week, as well as a hit-and-run involving a motorhome that left a pedestrian injured and a suspected swatting hoax that prompted an emergency response.

Homes ransacked across multiple neighborhoods

Several residential burglaries were reported between May 10–11, with suspects forcing entry through windows and doors and leaving homes ransacked.

  • Saturday, May 10, in the 1800 block of Valle Vista, cash and jewelry were taken after doors or windows were smashed.
  • Saturday, May 10, in the 1400 block of Thames Street, suspects forced open a rear window and stole jewelry, purses, and cash.
  • Sunday, May 11, in the 900 block of Aaron Drive, suspects entered through an unlocked rear window.

Thieves Target UPS Truck, Business Fenced Yard

On Monday morning, May 12, police discovered a theft at a business in the 26900 block of San Bernardino Avenue. Investigators determined that two suspects had cut through the perimeter fence and stolen items from a UPS truck parked inside.

Police said the suspects have been identified as the same individuals arrested in a similar theft just two days earlier.

Pedestrian Injured in RV Hit-and-Run

A man suffered bruises and abrasions late Sunday night, May 11, after being struck by a motorhome while in the crosswalk at West Lugonia Avenue and Alabama Street. The RV fled the scene and was last seen entering westbound Interstate 10.

A witness followed the vehicle and was able to provide officers with a partial license plate number and description. The victim was taken to the hospital, and the investigation is ongoing.

Swatting Hoax Triggers Police Response

Police were called to a home in the 1400 block of Clock Avenue late Saturday night, May 10, after receiving a 911 call from a man claiming he had accidentally shot his wife. Officers surrounded the residence and instructed the occupants to exit.

All residents were found to be unharmed and unaware of the call. Police believe the report was part of a “swatting” hoax — a false emergency call intended to trigger an armed police response.

Business and DUI Arrests

Police arrested a man for burglary late Saturday night after video surveillance captured him jumping a fence and entering a business through a rear door at Port Priority, located in the 27000 block of San Bernardino Avenue. He was later located nearby in possession of burglary tools.

In a separate incident, a man was arrested for DUI after crashing his truck into a Southern California Edison pole on San Timoteo Canyon Road late Saturday night. The vehicle came to rest in an orange grove in the 28800 block. No serious injuries were reported.
