REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police are investigating a robbery reported Sunday evening, Feb. 22, at the GameStop store in the Citrus Plaza shopping center.
According to investigators, suspects arrived in a white Kia Soul, parked in front of the store and went inside where they forced two employees into a back room. One employee was reportedly made to open a rear storage area before the suspects stole multiple video game console systems and fled the store.
The vehicle used in the robbery was later found abandoned in San Bernardino and determined to have been stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
The robbery was among several incidents highlighted in the Redlands Police Department’s weekly update covering Feb. 19–26.
Police arrested a suspect early Thursday, Feb. 26, after responding to a burglary alarm at Empire Bowl. Officers discovered a dining room window had been smashed and located shoe impressions inside the building where items appeared to have been disturbed.
While searching the area, officers located a 25-year-old man carrying property away from the business. Police said the man’s shoes matched impressions found inside the building. He was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
In a separate incident Wednesday morning, Feb. 25, police arrested a 38-year-old transient woman for robbery after she allegedly stole chips and a fountain drink from the Shell station at 127 E. Redlands Blvd. When an employee attempted to intervene, the suspect reportedly punched him several times in the face. Officers located the woman a short distance away and recovered the stolen items.
Later that afternoon, officers arrested a 33-year-old Redlands woman suspected of stealing credit cards and using them to make purchases at several local stores, including Famous Footwear, Kohl’s and AutoZone. Police identified the woman during a traffic stop after surveillance footage showed her using one of the stolen cards at Famous Footwear.
According to police, the suspect told officers she had swallowed fentanyl and was taken for a medical evaluation before being arrested.
On Monday afternoon, Feb. 23, officers responding to a disturbance at the municipal parking structure at Citrus Avenue and Sixth Street arrested a 20-year-old Redlands man for concealing a kitchen knife and violating probation. An 18-year-old transient was also arrested on a felony warrant.
Later that evening, police responded to reports of a man with a gun near Redlands Boulevard and Alabama Street. Officers located the individual and determined the weapon was a Nerf toy rifle. Police said the man was intoxicated and he was arrested.
Police are also investigating an incident in which an unknown suspect drove into the parking lot at 1752 E. Lugonia Ave. on Friday night, Feb. 20, and fired multiple shots from a BB gun at Karen’s Donuts, causing approximately $2,000 in damage.
