REDLANDS, Calif. — Police are investigating multiple robberies, thefts and DUI-related crashes reported across Redlands over the past week, including an armed robbery at a hair salon and the theft of multiple shipping containers from an Amazon facility.
An armed robbery was reported Monday, March 16, at a hair salon in the 1600 block of East Citrus Avenue. According to Redlands Police, a customer refused to pay after receiving styling services and told the stylist she would wait for her boyfriend. When the man arrived, he allegedly assaulted the hairstylist, pointed a handgun at her and told her they would not pay before both suspects fled. The investigation is ongoing.
Police also reported an attempted robbery Sunday evening, March 15, at a motel in the 1100 block of West Colton Avenue. A Los Angeles man allegedly confronted a victim sitting in his car, grabbed his bag and threatened him with a firearm during a struggle. The suspect fled without property but was later identified, arrested in Los Angeles and found in possession of a firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
In a separate incident, officers responded Monday evening, March 16, to a reported assault along the Alabama Street trail. A bicyclist told police he was struck in the back of the head by a group of men and lost consciousness. When he awoke, he discovered cash was missing. The victim sought treatment at a hospital but declined to provide further details to investigators.
Officers also made an arrest Monday afternoon, March 16, after responding to a theft in progress at Home Depot on West Lugonia Avenue. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended after a short pursuit. Police said the individual provided a false name and was later arrested on suspicion of burglary, robbery, weapons violations and an outstanding felony warrant.
Police are investigating a large-scale theft reported Monday, March 16, involving nine shipping containers stolen from an Amazon warehouse on West San Bernardino Avenue. No additional details were released.
Several other arrests and incidents were reported throughout the week.
Two drivers were arrested in separate DUI-related crashes. One driver struck a parked car in the 1000 block of Alta Street on Wednesday, March 18. Another driver crashed into a wall in the 1300 block of Orange Street early Tuesday, March 17, and was also found in possession of drugs, police said.
A man was arrested Sunday afternoon, March 15, for felony vandalism after allegedly using a brick to break windows at the Redlands Public Market on Third Street.
In another case, officers located a stolen vehicle flagged by an Automated License Plate Recognition system in the 800 block of West Colton Avenue. When officers attempted to detain the driver, she allegedly assaulted them and was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
Police also reported a traffic collision Monday evening, March 16, involving a motorized scooter rider and a vehicle near Tennessee and Pioneer streets. The 45-year-old rider was transported to a hospital with head injuries.
