Suspected gang-related shootings in Redlands; RUSD layoffs hit 60

Incidents include strong-arm robberies, suspected voyeurism and multiple DUI cases
REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police responded to a series of robberies, DUI arrests and other incidents during the week of March 19–26, according to the department’s latest weekly update.
A woman was arrested March 25 after allegedly stealing merchandise from Stater Bros. Market, 11 E. Colton Ave., and slapping an employee who confronted her outside the store. Police said she was on probation for a robbery committed in Redlands in February.

Several DUI-related incidents were reported during the week.
Police arrested a driver March 22 after observing the vehicle doing donuts near Church Street and the railroad tracks. The driver initially failed to stop before yielding on Colton Avenue.
In another case early March 21, officers found a driver passed out in a vehicle blocking traffic at Kansas Street and Barton Road. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
A separate DUI and hit-and-run arrest was made early March 22 after a driver struck a parked vehicle in the 1100 block of West Crescent Avenue and attempted to flee before her vehicle became disabled.
Police are investigating a reported voyeurism incident March 22 in the 800 block of South Wabash Avenue. A woman told officers someone pointed a camera through her window while she was showering. The suspect fled on foot and may have left in a gray or silver sedan.
Officers also responded March 22 to a report of a man with a gun at Tennessee Street and Lugonia Avenue. The object was determined to be a torch lighter resembling a handgun. The man was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
A motorcyclist suffered non-life-threatening injuries March 21 on San Timoteo Canyon Road after veering off the roadway to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle that crossed into his lane.
The department said the weekly update highlights selected incidents and is not a comprehensive list of all calls for service.
