REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police assisted San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies in several incidents over the weekend, including foot and vehicle pursuits that ended at the supportive housing complex on Industrial Park Drive.

On Sunday, Sept. 21, officers helped deputies in a foot chase of a man trespassing on train tracks near Alabama Street. Police said the suspect ran into the Step Up in Redlands housing facility at 1675 Industrial Park Drive before being taken into custody. He admitted to stealing property from Lowe’s prior to the pursuit. The items were returned, and store management declined to prosecute. The man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on the tracks and obstructing police.

On Friday, Sept. 19, Redlands police assisted deputies in a vehicle pursuit that began in Loma Linda and continued into Redlands. The suspect abandoned the vehicle near Industrial Park Drive and Alabama Street, fled on foot and entered a room at the Step Up in Redlands facility. Deputies evacuated several rooms because the suspect was believed to be armed. He was taken into custody without incident, and two firearms were recovered from the abandoned vehicle. No injuries were reported. Police said the suspect was not a resident of the housing facility.

In a separate incident Saturday evening, Sept. 20, police cited a juvenile riding a gas-powered mini motorcycle without a license after the rider ran a stoplight at Orange Street and Colton Avenue and struck a vehicle. The motorcycle was impounded.
