Ice cream social set for June 25 as city launches latest step in park upgrades
REDLANDS, Calif. — Texonia Park is getting a makeover, and the city is asking residents to help shape the design.
Redlands Parks and Recreation will host a community meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Texonia Park (1321 Texas St). Residents are invited to share ideas for the upcoming renovation, speak with city staff, and enjoy free ice cream.
In a social media announcement the city invited residents to share what they would like to see in the new park.
The event follows a community survey conducted earlier this year as part of the city’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan update. While the full results have not been released, city spokesperson Carl Baker said a presentation to the City Council is expected later this year.
Dozens of residents have already weighed in through social media, with many calling for the addition of a splash pad or water feature. Others emphasized the need for inclusive play areas with better accessibility for children with disabilities.
Texonia Park, located in central Redlands, is one of several city parks slated for improvements under the new plan. The June 25 meeting will be the first public input session specifically focused on Texonia.
