Redlands FC wrap up regular season against City SC

Redlands FC enter their final matchday of the 2025 season needing a victory and some help from Stars FC if they want to sneak into the playoff as the runner-up of the Southwest Division. 

Before current second place FC Tucson and Stars do play on Sunday though, Redlands must do their part and put pressure on Tucson by securing a victory against City SC on Saturday. 

The Opponent 

City SC have already been eliminated from playoff contention in their inaugural USL2 season, but have been competitive all year posting a 6-1-4 record, good for 19 points in 11 games. They have kept it close with the best of the division, losing by just 1 goal to both Tucson and the playoff-bound Fusion. 

The club hailing from San Diego can jump Redlands for a fourth place finish in the division with a win Saturday night. 

Two Clubs to Root For 

Redlands FC fans will have two clubs to root for this weekend; their own and a team up in Arizona by the name of Stars FC. Why? Well, if RFC takes down City SC and Stars upsets Tucson, Redlands would be in the playoffs. 

Unfortunately, that is the only possible path for Redlands to see the postseason. A draw or loss on Saturday eliminates them from playoff contention, and Tucson drawing against Stars FC would send them through via the goal differential tiebreaker, while a win would send them outright.

Player to Watch: Miguel Hernandez 

After a superhuman performance against the Fusion featuring several saves and even an assist, Redlands keeper Miguel Hernandez is the player to watch in the regular season finale. 

Final Notes: 

Even if Redlands and Tucson both win, Redlands would still be able to hold onto 3rd in a tough Southwest Division. Meaning the first three years in the club’s history would boast finishes of 1st, 4th, and 3rd in one of the toughest and most competitive divisions USL2 has to offer.
