Redlands FC returns home for critical clash with Capo FC

For the first time in USL2 play since opening night, Redlands FC will be at Dodge Stadium for a critical matchup against a team just 3 points ahead of them in the table, Capo FC

The Opponent

Redlands FC is no stranger to playing high leverage games against Capo FC. Last season, the two faced off in a must win game for Redlands that resulted in a draw after both teams blew separate two goal leads.

Redlands will be looking to flip that script Thursday, as a win over Capo FC would catapult them into 3rd place in the table, just one spot away from a playoff position. It won’t be easy though, as Capo are riding a 5 game unbeaten streak and took down second place Ventura County in their most recent match.

 Three is the Magic Number

3 is always the magic number in soccer because of the illustrious 3 points teams are chasing every game, but 3 means even more for this Redlands FC side for the next week and a half. The next 3 games are all against the 3 teams ahead of them in the Southwest Division (Capo FC, FC Tucson, Ventura County). All 3 games are at home, and a win in all 3 would catapult them up 3 spots into first place.

Redlands will surely be taking things one game at a time, but these next 3 games will likely determine the fate of their season, despite them being at just the halfway point of their 12 game season.

Player to Watch: Luka Lukic

Lukic was the player to watch the last time Redlands was at home and he produced, so why not do it again? It is not often Lukic is held scoreless, much less in consecutive games, so don’t be surprised if he finds the back of the net Thursday night.

Final Notes

Redlands will have a quick turnaround after this game as they will face FC Tucson on Saturday, also at Dodge Stadium. If Redlands beat Capo, that matchup would be a battle for one of the top 2 playoff spots with what would be just 4 games remaining in the season.

Thursday’s match will be live streamed on Sports Engine. Fans can buy tickets for both matches this weekend at https://www.redlandsfootballclub.com/tickets.
