After a dominant friendly win, Redlands heads to Coachella SC looking to stay in the playoff race and keep momentum going.
After earning a dominant victory in a recent friendly, Redlands FC will return to USL2 action on Saturday as they travel on the road to face Coachella SC.
Coachella SC will enter play Saturday last in the Southwest Division table with just 1 point in 6 games, a -49 goal differential, and a 3 game losing streak.
Coachella has given up goal totals of 19, 12, and 10, suggesting there will be plenty of chances for Redlands FC to put up a big number themselves against this squad.
After the first couple of weeks of the season, Redlands sit tied for third in the division table based on points per game, just 3 points shy of first and second place, which are the two playoff spots. The two teams currently in those spots however, FC Tucson and the Ventura County Fusion, are unbeaten.
This suggests Redlands will have to continue taking care of business against inferior teams and eventually snag some points from the top two if they want a shot at the playoffs. There’s still a long way to go though, and Redlands has plenty of home games during the final weeks of the season to stack points.
Enzo Mauriz has been one of Redlands better players in the midfield early on this season, and with a matchup against a struggling defense, he should be able to get on the scoresheet. Mauriz also has some momentum as he scored a goal in the friendly match last week.
After this match Redlands will have just 3 road games remaining all season compared to the 5 they still have to play at home in late June and Early July.
Coachella shockingly managed a draw at home last season against Redlands, so expect the away side to come out firing and with a no nonsense mentality. Kickoff is set for 7 PM on Saturday and the game will be streamed live on Sports Engine.
