After capturing a season opening victory at home, Redlands FC begin their streak of five consecutive road games this weekend as they head to Arizona to face Stars FC and FC Tucson.

An Early Season Rematch

It is something you certainly don’t see often, but Redlands will face the Stars yet again on Friday, making it their second matchup in 6 days to start the season.

Redlands, as mentioned, took the season opening matchup by a score of 3-2. However, the Stars did control the final 10 minutes of both the first and second halves, so Redlands will have to look to finish stronger and be better when it comes to protecting their leads.

A Date With the Defending Champions

Immediately after facing the Stars, Redlands will head over to Tucson to face the defending Western Conference Champions, FC Tucson. Redlands Head coach Cody Carlson said “FC Tucson is always one of the toughest opponents we’ll face every season”.

Redlands has struggled against Tucson on the road in its first couple of seasons as a club, and this game being the second end of a back-to-back adds to the mountain there is to climb. However, this Redlands squad has plenty of depth that can and will be utilized.

Player to Watch: Javier Hernandez

After scoring 2 goals in the season opener, it’s only right Javier Hernandez is the man to watch this weekend.

Hernandez and Luka Lukic have already proven to be a deadly duo up front, and Hernandez may give Lukic a run for his money when it comes to the teams goal scoring crown.

Final Notes:

With 6 points on the line in the span of just 2 days, Cody Carlson is optimistic about what his squad can get out of this road trip, “We’re going out to Arizona with the intent of picking up 6 points. That’s the right mentality to have.”

The game on Saturday against the Stars on Friday kicks off at 7 PM, and the game against Tucson on Saturday is set for 7:30PM.

Fans will be able to watch the game via livestream on Sports Engine.
