Redlands FC earn 4-1 win in friendly

Redlands FC put on a dominant showing Saturday night in a 4-1 victory over the KickABallPod Junior College Select team. Four different Redlands FC players found the back of the net en route to the win.

The first 20 minutes of the game saw Redlands put 3 shots on net, all being miraculously saved by the keeper. However, the pressure would eventually lead to a goal, as in the 24th minute Enzo Mauriz whizzed one by the keeper for the first goal of the game.

Redlands nearly made it 2-0 five minutes later, but a shot by Luka Lukic was saved to keep it a one goal game. In stoppage time, Redlands had yet another opportunity but substitute Wyatt Ponting had his shot saved as well. Redlands could easily have gone into the halftime break up 3-0, but instead had to settle for the 1 goal lead.

The Junior College Select team started the second half with much more intensity though, and they equalized in the 51st minute after keeper Tony Flores made his first two saves minutes prior. It was now 1-1.

However, after the game tying goal, the game went back into the control of Redlands. After two saves were made in the 53rd minute, Redlands got goals from star forwards Luka Lukic and Javier Hernandez just 10 minutes apart to make it 3-1. In the 85th minute, Sam Addo added a goal of his own.

The three second half goals were more than enough for Redlands, as they cruised to victory and gained some momentum as they prepare for the rest of their USL2 season. Redlands will go back on the road for their next 3 games starting June 4th, before returning home June 19th.
