Saturday night will mark a major matchup for Redlands FC as they take on Stars FC inside Dodge Stadium. The winner of the match will not only move into second place in the Southwest Division, but will also control their own destiny to the playoffs and own the tiebreaker between the two teams. The stakes do not get much higher for a regular season game.

The Opponent

Stars come into the game 4-1-2, good for third place as it stands in the division table. While winning on Saturday would mean they only draw level on points with Redlands, they own a game in hand and would, as mentioned, own the head-to-head tiebreaker. Giving them an opportunity to enter the driver's seat in the playoff race.

Stars met Redlands in Arizona during the first weekend of the season. They held the lead for a majority of the game before conceding a late equalizer that led to a 1-1 draw.

Six Point Swing

For Redlands, Saturday is not only a six point swing opportunity for second place, but also for the division title. After the first place Ventura County Fusion (18 PTS) took down the SoCal Eagles, Redlands moved back down to second place on total points (17), and trail the Fusion by .12 PPM as well.

A win on Saturday puts Redlands back in control of their own destiny for first place. A loss means their playoff chances as a whole rely on Stars and/or the Fusion dropping multiple points. Settling for a draw keeps them in second, but would severely damage their division title hopes.

Player to Watch: Tony Flores

Tony Flores has had another excellent season in goal for Redlands, including multiple key saves against the Eagles last weekend.

Stars scored 5 goals in their previous match, so Flores will be tasked with halting their offensive momentum.

Final Notes

Kickoff is set for 7 PM inside Dodge Stadium on the campus of Redlands High School. The game will also be streamed live on Sports Engine Play.
