REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Municipal Airport will open its doors to the community on Saturday, Dec. 6, for its annual “Stuff a Plane” holiday toy drive — a family-friendly aviation event aimed at filling an aircraft with gifts for local children in need.

The new, unwrapped toy collection runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the airport lobby at 1745 Sessums Drive. At the end of the event, the Salvation Army will pick up all donated toys and distribute them to families before Christmas.

The Redlands Airport Association is planning a full day of activities to encourage residents to participate. A pancake breakfast will be available for purchase in the morning, followed by a barbecue lunch in the afternoon. Kids can try flight simulators inside the lobby, explore aircraft on display and meet Santa, who will hand out candy during his visit.

A Historical Aircraft Display will also be featured, with pilots from regional airports invited to fly in, showcase their planes and donate toys.

The airport will again partner with LifeStream for an on-site blood drive. The bloodmobile will operate from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and officials say walk-ins are welcome amid a severe regional blood shortage, though appointments are recommended.

The event is free and open to all community members. Families are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy.
