Redlands Adventist Academy’s boys’ basketball team reached the CIF Southern Section Division 8 semifinals this week with a 58-48 victory over Twentynine Palms High School in front of a home crowd.
The Bulldogs (16-6 overall, 5-1 Tri County Premier League) will play at Victor Valley High School Friday, Feb. 20 for a shot at reaching the Division 8 championship game.
Redlands Adventist has won four straight playoff games, an improvement over the past two seasons when their CIF playoff hopes ended in first round losses.
The Bulldogs have beaten Hawthorne Math and Science 66-53; Excelsior Charter High 58-46 and Twentynine Palms to reach the semifinal game.
Victor Valley enters the game with playoff wins over Rubidoux HS 82-72; Trinity Classical Academy 88-53 and Desert Sky League rival Barstow High 75-70. The Jackrabbits are 13-14 overall and are the league’s third- place representative.
The Lady Bulldogs came up short in their bid for a berth in the CIF Southern Section Division 9 semifinals, losing to La Sierra High of Riverside 30-20, ending their season with a 13-12 record.
Redlands Adventist opened the playoffs impressively with a 42-19 win over Ganesha High of Pomona, then dominated Newport Christian High 68-42 before running into La Sierra (18-11) in the quarterfinals.
The Lady Bulldogs finished third in the Tri-County Premier League
with a 3-2 record.
