REDLANDS, Calif. — A pool party advertised online ended in gunfire, a man was arrested for felony DUI after a passenger fell from his moving car, and burglars broke into Gerrard’s Market in a string of incidents Redlands police reported this week.
Shooting at Sunset Hills Lane party
Homeowners on Sunset Hills Lane called police after renting out their pool through an online app led to a rowdy gathering that ended in a street fight and shooting.
Police responded to the 900 block late Thursday, Aug. 28, where a large crowd had gathered after the renter advertised a party, charging $15 for entry, police said.
Around 10 p.m., officers were called to a fight involving 20 to 30 people in the street. One person was taken to the hospital with injuries. Officers found a vehicle at the scene with blood on the passenger side and evidence of gunfire.
Later, police learned a shooting victim had been admitted to Loma Linda University Medical Center, and San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies located the victim’s vehicle nearby with apparent bullet damage.
The investigation is ongoing. Police said they returned to the home days later to disperse a second party and issued several parking citations.
