Pedestrian dies after collision near Redlands Senior Center

REDLANDS, Calif. — A 67-year-old woman died Monday morning after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing Lugonia Avenue near the Redlands Senior Center, according to a Aug. 6 press release from the Redlands Police Department.

The collision occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 4 at the intersection of Lugonia Avenue and Washington Street. Bystanders were performing CPR on the woman when officers arrived. Police and paramedics continued life-saving efforts before transporting her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead around 10 a.m.

Preliminary findings indicate the woman was crossing the street diagonally and outside of the marked crosswalk when she was hit by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 39-year-old man. Investigators said the driver was neither speeding nor under the influence at the time. The investigation remains ongoing.
