Paterson leaving REV to take assistant job at University of Redlands
After leading REV to a league title and playoff success, Chris Paterson accepts a new role with the Bulldogs

Chris Paterson, after three successful years as the Redlands East Valley High baseball coach, is leaving.
Paterson is moving to the University of Redlands as an assistant coach.
“It’s time,” Paterson said. “We accomplished a lot at REV, and this is a great opportunity and something I’ve always wanted, and I can’t say no.”
Paterson’s REV teams went a combined 52-34 and made the section playoffs every year. The Wildcats won the Citrus Belt League title this year and were a CIF-Southern Section Division 3 semifinalist in 2023.
“We took over a team coming off a losing record and made the playoffs every year, made one deep playoff run, and won a CBL title,” Paterson said. “We turned things around and sent a lot of kids on to play in college and made a good impact.”
REV went 20-9 overall this season and won the CBL with a 13-2 record. The Wildcats lost their first two league games before rattling off 13 consecutive victories.
The Wildcats lost their section playoff opener, 9-2, to Oaks Christian of Westlake Village.
Paterson, 39, has the distinction of playing on REV’s first CBL title team (2003) and having coached its most recent league champion. He played for coach Steve Hernandez in high school.
At the University of Redlands, Paterson will assist coach Aaron Holley, another REV grad.
Paterson will continue to teach at Sage Oak Charter School, an online school based in Redlands.
“I wish REV the best and hope the program will thrive and keep winning,” he said.
The school has not selected a replacement.
