CABAZON, Calif. — The parents of 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, who was reported missing in Yucaipa last week, were arrested Friday morning on suspicion of murder, according to authorities.

Jake and Rebecca Haro were taken into custody at their Cabazon residence on Aug. 22 by detectives from the Sheriff’s Homicide Detail and Specialized Enforcement Division. In a post on X Friday, the agency said both were booked on suspicion of murder and that the search for the missing infant will continue.

The infant was first reported missing on Aug. 14, when deputies responded to the 34500 block of Yucaipa Boulevard after Rebecca Haro told authorities she had been attacked outside a sporting goods store while changing her son’s diaper. She said she was knocked unconscious by an unknown assailant and awoke to find Emmanuel gone.

Deputies launched an immediate search, deploying K9 units from San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Emmanuel was not located. Detectives later served multiple search warrants at the Haro family home in Cabazon and gathered surveillance footage from surrounding areas.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division interviewed both parents. Officials said inconsistencies were found in Rebecca Haro’s account, and she declined to continue cooperating. Investigators said they could not rule out foul play in the case.

In the days following Emmanuel’s disappearance, national advocacy groups, including the Uvalde Foundation For Kids, briefly offered search support and a reward, but later withdrew after citing concerns over conflicting information and the parents’ lack of cooperation.

Authorities said Emmanuel remains the primary focus of the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904. Anonymous tips may be submitted through We-Tip at 800-78-CRIME (27463) or wetip.com.
