REDLANDS, Calif. — Protesters are expected to gather in downtown Redlands on Saturday, March 28, as part of the nationwide “No Kings” movement opposing what organizers describe as authoritarian leadership.
In Redlands, the local rally is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon at the intersection of Orange Street and Redlands Boulevard in downtown Redlands, a location commonly known as “Peace Corner.”
The demonstrations are part of a broader national protest movement that organizers say began gaining momentum last summer, when millions of people participated in rallies across the country under the “No Kings” banner. Since then, participation has continued to grow, with thousands of events organized nationwide and millions of participants joining protests in cities and small towns across all 50 states.
Event organizers describe the rallies as nonviolent action and say public participation is meant to challenge policies they believe threaten democratic institutions, including immigration enforcement actions, voting restrictions and cuts to social programs.
“When our families are under attack and costs are pushing people to the brink, silence is not an option,” organizers wrote on the event webpage. “America does not belong to strongmen, greedy billionaires or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people.”
Redlands has hosted similar No Kings rallies in the past, with hundreds of participants gathering at Peace Corner. The location has also recently served as a gathering site for demonstrations, including protests by local residents and secondary school students over the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to the No Kings official map of registered events, several Inland Empire cities will host protests. Here are some Inland Empire locations to watch:
