French organist makes stop in Redlands
The Spinet hosts the Paris-trained soloist for an evening concert at First Congregational Church, Oct. 21, as part of his Southern California tour.

Sophomore Elijah Medina finished in first place in a field of 233 runners to lead his Redlands East Valley High team to a second-place finish in the boys varsity section 2 race at the Central Park Cross-Country Invitational in Huntington Beach on Saturday.
Medina covered the three-mile course in 14:56.7 to help his team produce 92 points and finish second to Foothill Technology High of Ventura which placed all five runners in the top 10 to score just 30 points. Medina’s time was just off his personal best of 14:47.6 set last month.
Following Medina to the finish were James Wallace, 17th in 16:17.1; Emery Dominguez, 18th in 16:19.9; and Dominick Vasquez, 20th in 16:23.5. All three are juniors. Matthew Aguilar, a senior, took 54th in 17:11.7.
In section 1 of the varsity boys race, Redlands High placed 16th, led by junior Hudson Glassmire who finished 12th in 16:00.7.
REV finished seventh as a team in the JV boys section 2 race with 227 points. Thomas Allred, a junior, took 27th place in 18:38.5. Steve Perez Jr., was right behind Allred in 28th spot in 18:39.4.
The Redlands High JV boys finished 17th in the Section 1 three-miler led by Michael Rodgers’ 45th place (17:31.9) finish.
REV took 14th place in the boys frosh-soph division with 422 points. Nicholas Solorzano was the top finisher for the Wildcats, 28th in 18:27.9.
Citrus Belt League rival Cajon High finished in fifth place in the boys sweepstakes race with 172 points. Ayden Ramirez was 13th in 15:131 while Ramon Dorado was 14th in 15:15.1. Beaumont High placed 12th led by Jacob Light taking 24th place in 15:37.
The Redlands East Valley High girls’ cross-country team placed three runners in the top 10 to capture the team title in the junior varsity girls section 2 three-mile race at the Central Park Invitational on Saturday.
Because REV was the only full team that competed in the event, the Wildcats were awarded 15 points even though teammates were scattered among the top 27 finishers who participated as individuals.
Junior Melany Plumb took third place in 21:38.7, followed in fourth place by teammate Saige Vasquez (22:11.8). Hannah Weisz was seventh in 22;45.4. Helena Arregin was 19th in 24:01.2 and Jocelyn Ochoa was 24th in 24:19.6.
In the JV girls section 2 three-mile run, Redlands finished in seventh place with 248 points. Freshman Lyanna Garcia wound up in 10th place, timed in 20:56.0.
REV placed sixth overall in the fresh-soph girls race with 134 points. Adilynn Boyce was 15th in 22:17.6 and Danielle Joseph was 23rd in 22:41.8.
Citrus Belt League rival Beaumont placed 10th in the girls sweepstakes 3-mile run with 192 points. Aracelly Guzman was the top finisher for the Cougars in 18:31.5, good for 21st place.
Cajon took sixth in the girls varsity section 1 race with 225 points. Tiana Chamorro was fourth in 18:43.5. Carolina Ybarra was 12th in 19:06.8.
All six CBL teams will be in action on Oct. 18 in the CBL Cluster Meet No. 2, hosted by Beaumont.
