REDLANDS, Calif. — Loma Linda University Cancer Center received a $225,000 donation from Stater Bros. Charities and Inland Women Fighting Cancer to support cancer research, innovative treatments and patient care services.

The gift was made possible through funds raised during the October 2024 Believe Walk.

Why it matters: The donation will directly contribute to several innovative treatments such as tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy, CAR T-cell therapy, Theranostics and Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT).

What they’re saying: “These innovative therapies are already changing outcomes for cancer patients, and the reach extends beyond cancer to help others in need,” said Mark Reeves, the director of the Loma Linda Cancer Center. “That’s the kind of impact this support makes possible.”

Looking ahead: The Believe Walk, which helps make impactful donations like this one possible, is returning to Downtown Redlands on Sunday, Oct. 5.

Now in its 18th year, the Believe Walk brings the community together to support patients, survivors and their families.

“This support is more than a generous donation — it’s a message to our nurses and patients that the community stands with them,” said Judy Chatigny, the chief of Oncology and Radiological Services. “It validates the work that is being done and strengthens the trust patients place in us. We are truly grateful for this partnership.”

The walk begins at 6:30 a.m. and finishes at 12 p.m. with early check-in and late registration taking place on Friday, Oct. 3 at Pathway Church. More than 1,600 people have already signed up to participate in the walk.
