REDLANDS, Calif. — A fundraiser is underway to support the family of Redlands Police Officer Seth Franklin, who died April 6 after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Ashley, and their two sons, ages 4 and 2.
Franklin, 39, was a respected member of the Redlands Police Department and had served in law enforcement for more than a decade, including 11 years as a deputy sheriff with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. He also served as treasurer of the Redlands Police Officers Association.
“Seth’s unwavering dedication to helping others and his passion for protecting his community in Redlands exemplified the heart of a true hero,” the department shared. “The world has lost a remarkable soul, but his kindness and love for animals and humanity will forever inspire us.”
At the time of his passing, Franklin was still in the legal process of having his condition recognized as a line-of-duty injury. Because that process was unresolved, his family has been left without income or access to death benefits.
Donations to the "Fund A Hero" campaign through the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) will help cover funeral costs, medical expenses, and provide financial support for Franklin’s family. As of this week, the campaign has raised more than $12,000.
