One arrested for DUI, others for warrants, drug possession, and unlicensed driving during May 23 operation on Citrus Avenue
REDLANDS, Calif. — Four drivers were arrested and four others cited during a DUI checkpoint conducted by Redlands police Friday night on Citrus Avenue, east of Church Street.
The checkpoint, which ran from 6 p.m. Friday, May 23, to 1 a.m. Saturday, May 24, screened 456 vehicles, according to a statement from Public Information Officer Carl Baker.
One driver was arrested for driving under the influence and another on an outstanding DUI warrant. Police also arrested one individual for resisting an officer and another for possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Three drivers were cited for operating a vehicle without a license, while another was cited for driving on a suspended license. One vehicle was impounded.
Checkpoint locations are selected based on data regarding impaired driving-related crashes, officials said. The primary goal is to enhance public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.
The operation was funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
