REV went 25–9 in Citrus Belt League play and 51–29 overall during Jordan Cherniss’ three seasons as an outside hitter, earning all-CBL honors each year.
Former Redlands East Valley High School girls volleyball star Jordan Cherniss was among four Cal State San Bernardino women’s volleyball players honored on Senior Night in Coussoulis Arena last month.
Cherniss, a redshirt senior at CSUSB, played three years for the REV Wildcats (2017-2019) but her senior season of 2020 was wiped out by the COVID-19 statewide shutdown of public schools.
REV posted a 25-9 record in Citrus Belt League play, 51-29 overall while she was an outside hitter for three seasons earning all-CBL honors all three years. One of her high school teammates was Jenna Patton, who closed out her collegiate career at CSUSB in 2023 as a first-team All- American.
Cherniss developed into a serve-receive specialist in her four seasons of collegiate volleyball. In her two seasons at CSUSB after transferring from Division 1 Northern Arizona University, Cherniss played in 54 matches, starting 42 times and was on the court for 203 sets. She compiled 178 kills, 46 assists and 52 service aces to go with 434 digs (2.13 per set), 46 assists and 35 blocks.
She helped the Coyotes post a 22-6 record this season, earning a berth in the NCAA Super Regional where they lost 3-2 in the first round to top-seeded Point Loma Nazarene.
Cherniss red-shirted her freshman year at Northern Arizona in 2021 and then played two years for the Lumberjacks, during which she compiled 233 digs and 42 service aces along with 69 kills.
She is daughter of CSUSB head coach Kim Cherniss – an all-American and NCAA Div. 2 champion at UC Riverside in the 1980s who has coached the Coyotes since the program joined Division 2 in 1991-92.
Jordan is an administration major at CSUSB with an emphasis on finance. She has earned all-Big Sky Conference academic honors at NAU and all-region academic honors at CSUSB.
