Redlands East Valley High did not have to look far for a new baseball coach.

The new man is Brandon Ford, 47, who has resigned as the REV softball coach to take over baseball. He replaces Chris Paterson, who led the Wildcats to a Citrus Belt League title in the spring, a 20-9 overall record, and a 13-game winning streak.

Paterson stepped down following the season after compiling a 52-34 record over three years to take an assistant baseball job at the University of Redlands.

"I’m excited,” Ford said. “I’ve wanted to do this a long time. I love softball and coached it at both schools (REV and Redlands High). It’s going to be hard to leave (the sport), but I’m excited for this opportunity.  REV has a winning baseball tradition, and I want to maybe even take it to another level.”

Ford teaches Government and U.S. History at REV. He coached softball for 17 years at Redlands High and for five years at REV.
