Redlands Earth Day Climate Action returns April 18
Workshops, volunteer projects and a community celebration highlight Redlands’ Day of Climate Action on April 18.
The newly formed Food Security Task Force held its first meeting Jan. 8, bringing together city officials and local community partners to address the growing need for food assistance.
The task force was formed in response to recent cuts to SNAP and CalFresh. Community food providers told city officials they are seeing three to four times as many families and single adults seeking help.

🚨 A woman was struck and killed early Thursday morning while walking on Alabama Street near Orange Avenue, marking the city’s fourth pedestrian fatality in the past six months. Police said the driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment. The crash remains under investigation. Read more here:

🚔 Redlands police and California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control agents cited three clerks Jan. 22 for selling alcohol to minors during a compliance check at nine local stores. The operation was funded through a $42,648 state grant aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm. Clerks face fines and community service, and businesses could face license penalties. Read more here:

⚕️San Bernardino County health officials have confirmed the first reported positive case of measles since 2023. The individual is an unvaccinated minor who visited an Ontario Walmart. Read more about the case here:

🎨 The Redlands Art Association is encouraging artists to submit work for its 57th Annual Multi-Media Mini Show. The show accepts fine arts in any medium including painting, ceramics, glass, wood, metal, digital art and photography that are no more than 14.5 inches on any side. Read more here:

🌱 J.P. Beall, a Redlands farmer, reached the national semifinals of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Discussion Meet. Beall is also a member of the San Bernardino County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. This achievement marks the highest level of competitive success for the county in the organization’s 108-year history. Read more here.
⚽ Citrus Valley High's girls' soccer team continues to dominate the Citrus Belt League. The Blackhawks captured their seventh-straight league crown, finishing the season undefeated. Read more here:

Breakaway Femmes, a documentary about the pioneering women of professional cycling in the Tour de France during the 1980s, will be screened at the Finkelstein Performing Arts Center Auditorium. The screening will be introduced by Redlands' athlete Patty Peoples, a member of the 1984 U.S. Women’s Tour de France team and a featured athlete in the documentary. Read more about the event here:

In case you missed it... Redlands residents in most single-family neighborhoods will now be allowed to keep hens. The proposal, which was approved by City Council, sets limits based on lot size, prohibits slaughtering chickens on residential properties and allows incidental egg sales. Read more here:
