Regional fire leaders to discuss wildfire preparedness and community readiness
REDLANDS, Calif. — As fire season begins across Southern California, local fire officials will join the Healthy East Valley coalition on Friday, June 20, for a public meeting focused on wildfire safety and community preparedness.
The event runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at The Hall, located behind Theron’s Marketplace at 122 Cajon St. in downtown Redlands. All residents and community partners in the East Valley — including Redlands, Highland, Yucaipa, Mentone, Calimesa, and the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation — are encouraged to attend.
This month’s Drug Free Communities Coalition (DFCC) meeting will feature presentations from Yucaipa Fire Chief Grant Malinowski, as well as representatives from Redlands Fire Department and Cal Fire. Topics will include fire-safe landscaping, regional evacuation plans, and interagency coordination during emergencies.
With wildfires growing in frequency and intensity, fire officials will also share tips for how families and businesses can protect their homes and neighborhoods. A Q&A and community updates will follow the presentations.
The meeting is hosted by Healthy East Valley, a nonprofit working to promote health education, drug prevention, and youth well-being across the region.
