REDLANDS, Calif. — The Family Service Association of Redlands celebrated community generosity and volunteerism at its annual Donor Appreciation Reception on Oct. 20 at the historic Mission Gables House.

The event recognized individuals and organizations whose support has advanced the agency’s mission to help children, families, and individuals in need across the Redlands area.

The Annette Williams Charitable Foundation and its board members, Dr. Bearie and Bill Lemann, received the organization’s highest philanthropic honor, the Alfred Smiley Award. Their foundation provided a matching grant and early support for the Almost Home Capital Campaign, which is launching a housing initiative that will create six affordable homes for low-income families in Redlands.

This year’s Answering the Call Awards went to Marilyn Solter, Dr. Christopher Walker, and Ed and Linda Serros for their long-term service as both donors and volunteers. Each has contributed to the agency’s programs, capital campaigns, and fundraising events for many years.

Sue Morasco, a retired Esri employee and former Family Service Association board member, received the Ann McMahon Volunteer Service Award for her leadership in marketing and logistics for the organization’s Dinner in the Grove fundraiser. Morasco also coordinates Esri’s participation in the agency’s annual holiday celebration, ensuring hundreds of local children and families receive gifts each year.

Redlands Mayor Mario Saucedo joined the celebration and presented certificates of recognition to the honorees, underscoring the city’s support for the agency’s work.

Board President Joseph Shaw thanked donors, volunteers, and community partners for their continued commitment.

“This evening reflects the heart of Redlands—where compassion meets action,” said Executive Director Kyra Stewart. “Each honoree represents the very best of what it means to serve others, and we are truly grateful for their partnership and dedication.”

Founded in 1898, the Family Service Association of Redlands provides social services, counseling, and resources that promote stability and self-sufficiency for families and individuals throughout the region.
