Applicants sought for Redlands Human Relations Commission
City seeks District 1 residents and college students for advisory body focused on equity and community relations.
Dr. Gwendolyn Dowdy-Rodgers will discuss school board roles and public participation at the Feb. 7 AAUW Redlands brunch meeting.
REDLANDS, Calif. — San Bernardino County Board of Education President Gwendolyn Dowdy-Rodgers will speak at the American Association of University Women Redlands branch brunch meeting on Saturday, Feb. 7, on the role of elected school board members and public participation in education governance.
Dowdy-Rodgers’ presentation, “Role of an Elected School Board Member 101,” will focus on how community members can engage in school board meetings, participate in public comment and contribute to policy discussions.
Dowdy-Rodgers also serves as president and CEO of Arrowhead United Way and previously served two terms on the San Bernardino City Unified School District board. A lifelong San Bernardino resident, she holds degrees in behavioral health, human resource management and educational leadership and was profiled on PBS SoCal in 2023 for her work promoting civic engagement.
The meeting will be held in the Casa Loma Room at the University of Redlands. Social time begins at 8:45 a.m., followed by brunch at 9:30 a.m. for $25. The program-only portion begins at 10:15 a.m. and is free.
