Blackhawks, Cougars and Cowboys post dominant wins as standout athletes deliver top performances across Citrus Belt League competitions Tuesday

Citrus Valley, Beaumont, Cajon sweep CBL dual track meets

Citrus Valley High’s track and field teams swept Redlands High School in a Citrus Belt League dual meet on Tuesday, April 7. Beaumont High swept past Yucaipa and Cajon won both boys and girls divisions at its meet with Redlands East Valley, also on Tuesday.

CVHS VS. REDLANDS HIGH
The Blackhawks won the boys division 73-52 and the girls division 72-55.

The CVHS boys were led by Jaymie Evans, a double winner in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, Evan Rout in the 800 meters (2:01.43), and Adam Sanchez in the triple jump (38 feet, 9 inches).

Matthew Luna won the long jump for Redlands at 18 feet, 11 inches. Kasen Gragg took the high jump at 6 feet even. Gragg’s personal best is 6 feet, 7 inches.

CVHS girls were led by Alyssa Castaneda’s three wins in the 800, 1600 and 3200 distance races. Sadie Herford won three events for Redlands, taking the 100 meters in 12.83, the long jump at 16 feet, 5 inches and the triple jump.

CAJON VS. REDLANDS EAST VALLEY
The Cowboys won the boys division 78-49 and the girls division 75-52.

The REV girls captured the 4x100 relay in 49.26, edging Cajon (49.31). Freshman Savannah Morris won the 100 meters in 12.64 and the long jump at 17 feet, 2 inches. Delaney Reiss was a double winner in the shot put and discus. Chanel Daniel of Cajon won the 400 meters in 59.59.

REV’s Elijah Medina won the 1600 and 800 meters and Yoanis Altamirano was a double winner in the shot put and discus (135 feet, 10 inches). Wildcats basketball standout Demaj Moore won the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches. Jordan Young of Cajon won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.82. Ayden Ramirez led a Cajon sweep in the 3200 meters in 9:58.35.

BEAUMONT VS. YUCAIPA HIGH
The Cougars won both divisions, 87-40 over the Yucaipa boys while the Beaumont girls prevailed 80.5 to 46.5.

Cougars boys sprinter Daryl Williams, among the leaders in the CIF Southern Section, ran a personal best 10.65 to win the 100 meters. He has run 21.14 in the 200 meters and 48.07 in the 400 meters. Darius Jeter of BHS won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.82. Kai Johnston, another CIF contender in the 300 meter hurdles, won his specialty in 39.07, just shy of his personal best set earlier this season at 38.07.

Kevin Reis of Yucaipa led a Thunderbirds sweep of the triple jump at 42 feet, 11 inches. Jacob Homan was second at 42 feet, 10.5 inches, Drake Rundles was third at 42 feet, 1.5 inches. Reis also won the long jump. Ronin Lopez won the shot put at 45 feet, 3 inches and the discus for YHS. Nathaniel Sahler took the 3200 meters in 9:54.20.

Emmalynne Dowdy captured the shot put and discus for Yucaipa’s girls’ team. Tori Rivera and Brooks Tarcon finished 1-2 in the 3200 meters. Mia Soto of Beaumont edged Tarcon in the 1600 meters in 5:25.06 to Tarcon’s 5:26.55. Julie Kowalis of BHS won the 400 meters in 59.94.

Trabuco Hills Invitational Notes

Boys Division – Beaumont’s Williams took fourth in the 200 meters in 21.14 and second in the 400 meters in 48.07. Kevin Reis of Yucaipa was sixth in the triple jump at 44 feet, 8 inches. Timothy Moore of Beaumont was third in the 800 meters in 1:58.79. REV’s Elijah Medina was seventh in the Elite 800 meters in 1:57.61.

Girls Division – REV freshman Savannah Morris was huge in the event’s Frosh-Soph division, winning the 400 meters in 59.67, helping the 4x100 meter relay team take second in 49.62 and winning the 200 meters in 25.93. Teammate London Peedom was third in the 100 meters (12.86) and fifth in the 200 meters in 26.58. Brooks Tarcon of Yucaipa was second in the 1600 meters in 5:18.43. Emmalynne Dowdy of YHS was second in the varsity discus at 121 feet, 4 inches. Ariana Zollinger of REV was second in the 3200 meters in 11:50.46.
