REDLANDS, Calif. — The Redlands Cinema Classic will return this spring with a monthlong series of international films, bringing five award-winning features and documentaries to the Harkins Mountain Grove 16 theater throughout April.

The Spring 2026 Film Series runs from April 1 through April 30, with screenings scheduled Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. and Thursday matinees at 2:30 p.m. at Harkins Theatre (27481 San Bernardino Ave).

The annual series highlights foreign, art and specialty films and has been a local tradition for more than two decades. Proceeds benefit art education programs throughout the city of Redlands through the Redlands Art Association, a nonprofit organization.

Here's a look at the films:

The series opens April 1–2 with Mr. Nobody Against Putin, a documentary directed by David Borenstein and Pavel Talankin. The film follows a Russian school videographer who documents the impact of government propaganda and military recruitment on students after Russia announces plans to invade Ukraine. The film has been nominated for the 2026 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

The following week, April 8–9, audiences can see Calle Malaga, directed by Maryam Touzani. Set in Tangier, Morocco, the story centers on a 79-year-old Spanish widow facing pressure from her daughter to sell the apartment where she has spent most of her life, leading to an exploration of aging, independence and love.

On April 15–16, the series continues with Colours of Time, a French and Belgian film directed by Cédric Klapisch. The story moves between modern-day cousins investigating their family history and a young woman’s journey to Paris in 1895, reflecting the cultural shifts of the turn of the 20th century. The film won the Audience Award at the American French Film Festival.

The fourth film, Amrun, screens April 22–23. Directed by Fatih Akin, the German drama is set in 1945 on a North Frisian island and follows a 12-year-old boy struggling to care for his family as World War II comes to an end. The film premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and has been shortlisted for a 2026 Oscar nomination.

The series concludes April 29–30 with The President’s Cake, directed by Hasan Hadi. Set in Iraq during Saddam Hussein’s rule, the film tells the story of a young girl tasked with baking a cake for the dictator’s birthday despite widespread poverty and food shortages. The film won the Palme d’Or at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and has been shortlisted for a 2026 Academy Award.

Tickets for individual screenings are $20 and are available online at redlandscinemaclassic.com or in person at the Redlands Art Association, 215 E. State St.

Organizers say donations and ticket proceeds from the series support art education programs across the city.
