University of Redlands junior Stian Asper placed third overall at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference cross-country championships, helping the Bulldog men finish fourth while the women’s team placed seventh.
Two Redlands runners led the pack at the Citrus Belt League finals, with REV’s Elijah Medina and Citrus Valley’s Alyssa Castaneda taking top honors and Yucaipa and Cajon winning the team titles.

University of Redlands junior Stian Asper finished third in the Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Conference Cross-Country championship to lead the Bulldogs team to a fourth-place finish on Nov. 1.
Asper completed the 8,000-meter course in 24:52.1 while teammate David Huggins, a senior, finished 11th in the field of 121 runners in 25:41.2. The Bulldogs totaled 109 points. Host Pomona Pitzer won the men’s race with 29 points.
Helping the Bulldogs’ cause was Max Schaller, a sophomore, who placed 24th in 26:32.0. Matthew Farnsworth, a junior, was 31st in 26:59.2. The fifth runner to count in the scoring for Redlands was freshman Carlos Arias, a Redlands High grad, who ran 27:12.1, good for 40th spot.
Kallen Gragg, also a freshman from Redlands High, was a non-scoring 44th, timed in 27:23.6.
The Bulldog men will likely compete in the NCAA West Regional on Nov. 15, at the same Pomona course.
In the SCIAC women’s division championship 6,000-meter run, Redlands placed seventh of eight teams led by Kiera Beyer’s 24th place finish in 23:57.1. Junior Elaine Dugmore was 31st in 24:37.4 and sophomore Madison Schaefer was 44th in 26:26.1 in a field of 110 runners.
