Did you know that the average Redlands resident throws away about five pounds of trash per day? While we recycle and compost some of it, much still ends up in the landfill—including things that could easily be repaired and reused. That’s where the ANCA Repair Café comes in.
On Saturday, July 26, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon, bring your broken items to the Assembly Room at A.K. Smiley Library (enter from Eureka Street), and our skilled volunteers will do their best to fix them—for free!
Whether it’s a lamp that no longer lights, a bicycle with a flat tire, or a piece of jewelry that’s lost its sparkle, our friendly team is ready to help. At our Repair Café, we can:
Our repair volunteers include men and women of all ages who love to fix things and help others. If we can’t repair your item on the spot, we’ll let you know what part is needed or if it’s beyond fixing.
This is our fifth Repair Café, and they just keep getting better! At our last event, we fixed 80% of the items brought in. Guests have called the experience “friendly and expert,” “a treasure,” and “a great way to keep useful things out of the landfill.”
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged so we can match your repair needs with the right fixers and tools. Visit ANCA Redlands online to sign up. You’ll choose a time slot—9, 10, or 11 AM—for your visit. Walk-ins are welcome until 11:00 AM, but priority is given to those who preregister.
Repairing instead of tossing saves money, reduces waste, and helps the planet—and it brings our community together. If you have questions, contact Dick Corneille at dickc@ancainlandempire.org.
