Veteran health care executive brings hospital leadership experience from Ventura and Santa Barbara
REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands Community Hospital has appointed veteran health care executive Adam Thunell as its new chief executive officer, the hospital announced Jan. 12.
Thunell most recently served as senior vice president and chief operating officer at Community Memorial Healthcare in Ventura, where he oversaw hospital and ambulatory operations across the system, strengthened physician partnerships and led long-term strategic planning efforts.
“We look forward to the vision, compassion, and energy Adam brings to his new role as he leads our organization into its next chapter of growth and service,” said Carol Snodgress, chair of the Redlands Community Hospital Board of Directors, in a statement.
During his tenure at Community Memorial Healthcare, Thunell led major construction and modernization projects, including development of a new acute-care hospital in Ventura and extensive facility upgrades in Ojai, according to the hospital.
Prior to that role, Thunell held leadership positions at Cottage Health in Santa Barbara and Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, where he focused on operational performance, collaborative leadership and expanding access to care.
Snodgress said Thunell’s experience positions the hospital to continue improving services for the community.
“Adam brings years of leadership that will give RCH the opportunity to further expand and improve high-quality care for even more members of our community,” she said.
Thunell earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Brigham Young University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and serves on several local and national boards, including Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association, CAPTIS, and Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families. He is also a member of the Healthcare Executives of Southern California.
“Adam is known for his warm leadership style and authentic connection to the communities he serves,” Snodgress said. “He is deeply passionate about promoting health, wellness, and equitable access to high-quality healthcare.”
Redlands Community Hospital is a 211-bed, independent, nonprofit hospital serving the Redlands area and surrounding communities.
