REDLANDS, Calif. — A.K. Smiley Public Library will host Library Days 2026 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in Smiley Park, inviting the community to celebrate this year’s theme, “Find Your Joy.”
The event coincides with National Library Week and will feature activities for all ages, including face painting, lawn games, bracelet making and rock painting for children.
Adults can also take part in rock art and outdoor games such as oversized Jenga, Connect 4 and disc golf. Live music will be provided by the West Palm Avenue Band, and families can take photographs with President Lincoln.
Several local organizations will participate, including the Museum of Redlands, the Redlands Area Historical Society, the Friends of the Library and the Redlands Animal Shelter, which will share information about animals available for adoption. The city’s Sustainability Department will offer a booth featuring composting worms, and Emergency Services staff will also attend. A Quiet Zone will be available for visitors seeking a calmer activity area.
Two featured attractions, an In-N-Out truck and Lappert’s Ice Cream, will begin serving in Smiley Park at 11 a.m. Food and ice cream will be free while supplies last.
After the outdoor event ends, visitors can continue activities inside the library, where patrons can sign up for library cards, explore new databases, check out movies and use the wi-fi. Community members will also be invited to post notes on a bulletin board sharing how the library has brought them joy.
Library officials said the event is meant to celebrate the many ways the library serves the community, from books and games to architecture and public gathering space.
