REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands families are invited to meet local police officers during Coptober 2026, a free community event Saturday, Oct. 17, at Redlands Ranch Market.
The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature hands-on activities for children, free books, bicycle drawings, visits with K-9 Jake and a barbecue prepared by the Redlands Police Department.
Children will have opportunities to interact with police officers and explorers, along with costumed characters provided by local nonprofit Mansion Memories. Eastern Sounds DJ will provide music throughout the event.
"Coptober is about building relationships," said Terry Vines, a Redlands Police Community Foundation board member. "When police officers and residents have an opportunity to meet, talk, and get to know one another outside of an emergency situation, it strengthens communication and our community."
Several local organizations and businesses will participate, including new partners MOR Museum of Redlands, YMCA Preschool University, A.K. Smiley Public Library and Ducking Clean.
Other participating organizations include the University of Redlands, Common Vision Coalition, Target and Toyota of Redlands. Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Uncle Howie's Pizza will also be represented.
The event is free and open to residents of all ages.
