Larry Dierdorff, 78, has painted more than 200 murals across the Inland Empire, transforming blank walls into detailed works of art. His latest project, commissioned by Bud Feldkamp, adds a touch of whimsy to downtown Redlands.
Redlands Fire Department is offering a free drive-thru Chipper Day on July 13 to help residents dispose of vegetation and reduce wildfire hazards in the community.
The event will take place from 8 to 11:30 a.m. at the City Corporation Yard, located at 1240 W. Park Ave.
Residents can bring cut vegetation, including brush under 15 inches in length or tree limbs no more than 10 inches in diameter, to be processed through a chipper truck.
This is a free service for Redlands residents only, said city spokesperson Carl Baker in a news release Tuesday.
Participants should enter the facility at the Building A & B driveway. The fire department emphasizes that no finished or painted wood products, bags of leaves, or pine needles will be accepted.
For more information about the Chipper Day event, residents can call (909) 798-7601.
