Redlands will look to spark win streak at Dodge Stadium
After a wild comeback win on the road against Capo FC, Redlands FC returns to Dodge Stadium Friday night. Their opponent? AMSG, a side seeking their first win of the season after an 0-3 start.
The match Friday night will mark Redlands second in just three days, putting them on short rest for the second time this season. Fortunately, head coach Cody Carlson was able to balance his players workload on Wednesday, which should set up some key starters to be able to play deep into the second half.
AMSG will still have the energy advantage at least on paper though, as Friday will be their first match since May 30th, when they fell to Capo FC
As of Wednesday night, Redlands currently sits in first place in terms of total points in the Southwest Division. They sit at 3rd in terms of points per game. A win Friday night could keep them at that position or better depending on other weekend results in the Southwest Division.
It is never too early to talk about standings though in a 12 game season, and Redlands can set themselves up nicely if they can take down AMSG and make it 3 wins in a row. A reminder that the top two teams in the Southwest Division qualify for the USL2 postseason.
#11 Efren Nunez has quickly emerged as a difference maker for Redlands this season, already having tallied multiple goals and an assist. His early chemistry with RFC star Jose de la Torre has been evident.
With Redlands facing an AMSG side that has surrendered multiple goals in all three games this season, Nunez is likely to get on the scoresheet again
Kickoff for the Friday night match is set for 7 PM at Dodge Stadium on the campus of Redlands High School. For more information and tickets to attend the match, visit redlandsfootballclub.com.
Following the match, Redlands will have a 15 day window away from Dodge Stadium in which they will play two road matches.
