For the second time in four seasons, Redlands FC will see its playoff hopes come down to the final weekend. Also for the second time, their final match is at Dodge Stadium against the Ventura County Fusion. Here is everything to know about the matchup and every playoff scenario.

The Opponent

The Fusion have already secured both a playoff spot and the Southwest Division title. This gives them nothing to play for from a standings perspective. But, if they want to maintain their unbeaten regular season, they will need to put up a serious effort against Redlands.

The two teams met in Ventura earlier this season and played to a scoreless draw. The last time Redlands faced the Fusion with RFC’s playoff lives on the line, they secured all 3 points to move on to the USL2 playoffs. A repeat of that night three years ago would be ideal for the home side.

Playoff Scenarios

Here is every path for Redlands to make the playoffs at the end of the final weekend of the regular season (games played on July 10th and 11th):

Redlands defeat Fusion: RFC makes the playoffs as the #2 team in the Southwest Division.

Redlands draw with Fusion: RFC makes the playoffs IF FC Tucson (July 10 vs Capo) AND Capo FC (July 10 vs Tucson, July 11 vs Stars FC) do NOT win out.

Redlands lose to Fusion: RFC makes the playoffs IF FC Tucson (July 10 vs Capo) AND Capo FC* (July 10 vs Tucson, July 11 vs Stars FC) do NOT win out

*Capo FC could advance with a win and draw in their final two games + a Redlands loss, but would need to make up a 9 goal differential gap between them and Redlands.

What This Means

These scenarios mean there is sure to be drama, but when the drama ends and how much of it there will be varies. If Tucson and Capo draw on July 10th, they will both be eliminated. That would result in Redlands clinching a playoff spot before they even play their last match.

But, if the Tucson/Capo match ends with either side winning, the season is guaranteed to come down to the final matchday. A Tucson win makes Redlands game against the Fusion a win or go home situation. Meanwhile, a Capo win means Redlands and Capo would be playing simultaneously to determine the final playoff spot.

The good news? At least one team that is not RFC will be eliminated by the end of July 10th. That makes the math a lot less confusing for everyone.

Final Notes

If Redlands do secure a playoff spot, they are set to head on the road for their postseason journey. That makes Saturday night’s match their final home game of 2026.

With all that being said, Redlands FC will need Dodge Stadium to be a fortress on Saturday night. Become a part of that atmosphere by purchasing tickets at redlandsfootballclub.com

For those unable to attend in-person, the match will be live streamed as the USL2 Game of the Week on Sports Engine Play. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
