Redlands candidate forum hosted by AAUW Oct. 5

REDLANDS, Calif. — Candidates for the Redlands Unified School District Board of Education and San Bernardino County superintendent of schools have been invited to participate in an online candidate forum Monday, Oct. 5.

The forum begins at 7 p.m. on Zoom and is hosted by the American Association of University Women Redlands and the University of Redlands Public Policy Program.

Candidates invited to participate include Patty Holohan and Dale Broome, who are running for the RUSD Board of Education Area 1 seat; Ryan Schavrien, Tiara Richardson and Maria Montes, who are running for the Area 2 seat; and Cali Binks and Alejandro “Alex” Vara, candidates for San Bernardino County superintendent of schools.

The event will be a moderated forum rather than a debate, with candidates given an opportunity to answer each question in rotation.

Voters can submit questions for the candidates through 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, by emailing candidateforum@aauwredlands.org.

Moderators will be Renee Van Vechten, a political science professor at the University of Redlands; Dorene Isenberg, a retired University of Redlands economics professor; and Cassie MacDuff, a retired journalist and AAUW member.

AAUW Redlands and the University of Redlands describe themselves as nonpartisan and do not endorse or financially support candidates.
