REDLANDS, Calif. — Redlands police are investigating several robberies, hit-and-run collisions and a stolen vehicle pursuit reported in the city over the past week.
Officers observed a white Kia driving erratically near Colton Avenue and Eureka Street shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, March 12, according to the Redlands Police Department. An automated license plate reader flagged the vehicle as stolen the night before.
Police initiated a pursuit that continued onto the freeway and into San Bernardino before the driver evaded officers. The vehicle was later found abandoned and recovered.
In another incident, a Redlands man was arrested Tuesday, March 10, after police identified him as the driver involved in a felony hit-and-run the day before. Authorities said the man initially reported his vehicle stolen but later directed officers to where he had abandoned it in Highland. The vehicle was recovered.
Police also responded Monday, March 9, to a hit-and-run involving a stolen vehicle at Redlands Boulevard and Texas Street. Four people fled the vehicle on foot. Officers detained three passengers but were unable to locate the driver. The investigation is ongoing.
Police are also investigating a strong-arm robbery reported Saturday night, March 7, at Citrus Plaza. Authorities said the victim was in the parking lot outside World Market when three suspects approached him from behind. One suspect grabbed the victim’s necklace, and another demanded his rings before the suspects fled.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
Another strong-arm robbery was reported Thursday evening, March 5, at the Circle K at 765 W. Redlands Blvd. Police said a woman selected food items, snacks and beer before leaving without paying. When a store clerk attempted to intervene, she struck him several times and fled east toward Orange Street. Despite an extensive search, officers were unable to locate the suspect.
Police are also investigating a hit-and-run collision in which a pedestrian was struck while walking in the eastbound lanes in the 2000 block of West Redlands Boulevard on Friday evening, March 6. The driver fled the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The vehicle involved was described only as a gray or white sedan.
