One dead, four injured in fiery I-10 collision near Mountain View Avenue

REDLANDS, Calif. — One person died and four others were injured in a fiery three-vehicle collision on Interstate 10 near Mountain View Avenue late Thursday, Sept. 24, according to the Redlands Fire Department.

Firefighter-paramedics responded shortly before 10 p.m. to the westbound I-10 between California Street and Mountain View Avenue, where crews found one vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

The occupant of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said.

Four occupants of two other vehicles involved in the collision were treated for minor injuries. One was transported to a hospital.

The California Highway Patrol reduced the westbound freeway to one lane while firefighters extinguished the blaze and provided medical aid. The lane closures remained in place for approximately three hours as CHP officers investigated the collision.

The Loma Linda Fire Department also responded.

Authorities have not released the identity of the person who died or details about what led to the collision. The crash remains under investigation.
