Sophomore Leah Slagter of Arrowhead Christian Academy won her fourth straight cross country 3-mile run on Tuesday, taking first place in the Ambassador League Cross Country Finals at Lake Perris State Recreation Area.

Slagter’s time was 17:48.63, falling just short of the school record set in 2024 by Jeanna Marie Lotz of 17:47.00. Slagter’s finish helped propel the Eagles to a tie for second place with 63 points, the same as Linfield Christian. Woodcrest Christian won the girls team title with 44 points.

Backing Slagter were Madelyn Arjonilla, 10th in 20:01.03; Olivia Shimmon, 14th in 20:36.43; Grace Price, 18th in 20:58.22; and Eva Marquez, 20th in 21:20.85.

After finishing fifth in the first Small Schools League cross country cluster meet in early October, Slagter won the second and third cluster meets on Oct. 14 and Oct. 28, sandwiched around a first-place finish in a Division 5 three-mile run at the Mt. SAC Invitational.

In the boys division of the Ambassador League finals, Micah Slagter set a new school record in the 3-mile run, timed in 15:29.14, to lead his team to second place with 66 points—well behind champion Ontario Christian High (20 points).

Finishing behind him were Benjamin Sams (11th in 16:40.95), Elijah Talamantez (12th in 16:56.46), Mac Frank (18th in 18:08.18), and David Marquez (19th in 18:09.62).

The Ambassador League teams and qualifiers advance to the CIF–Southern Section preliminaries Nov. 14–16 at Mt. SAC in Walnut. The CIF finals are Nov. 22 at the same course near Hilmer Lodge Stadium.
