REDLANDS, Calif. — In a marathon meeting that stretched into the early hours of Wednesday morning, the Redlands Unified School District board of education took up three controversial proposals—drawing hundreds of public comments, emotional testimony, and sharp disagreement among trustees.

The board:

- **Pulled a proposed parent notification policy** from the agenda pending a review by the California Attorney General’s Office,
- **Delayed a final vote on a new process for reviewing challenged library books**, citing concerns over clarity and implementation, and
- **Approved a policy restricting flags on school property** in a 3–2 vote, prompting backlash from students, parents and teachers.

Each proposal touches on broader cultural and legal debates playing out in schools across the country, particularly around LGBTQ+ inclusion, parental rights and curriculum access.
