# Magnitude 5.2 earthquake near Julian rattles Southern California

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck near the mountain town of Julian, east of San Diego, on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. 

The quake occurred at approximately 10:08 a.m. PDT and was felt across Southern California, including in San Diego, the Inland Empire, and as far north as Los Angeles. 

There were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department the [AP News](https://apnews.com/article/southern-california-earthquake-san-diego-julian-6de28bea4adb30dae588f7c33d79597b?ref=communityforwardredlands.com) report. The USGS continues to monitor the area for aftershocks.​

A ShakeAlert was issued for residents in Redlands and the Inland Empire. The earthquake early warning system monitors for significant earthquakes and issues alerts to warn that strong shaking is expected imminently.
