**REDLANDS, Calif. —** Redlands residents can get broken household items repaired for free this Saturday, Oct. 24, as part of two upcoming community events organized by Accelerate Neighborhood Climate Action (ANCA) Redlands.

The organization's 11th Repair Café will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Flores Senior Center, offering free repairs for everything from jewelry and small appliances to bicycles, clothing and electronics.

Four days later, ANCA Redlands will host a community discussion on climate preparedness, exploring how residents and neighborhoods can respond to extreme heat, drought and flooding.

### Free Repair Café returns Saturday

The Repair Café brings together volunteers who use their skills to repair household items that might otherwise end up in the landfill.

According to ANCA Redlands, volunteers successfully repair more than 65% of the items brought to previous events.

Services include bicycle tune-ups, flat tire repairs, clothing mending, jewelry repairs, watch and clock repairs, and assistance with small appliances and computer hardware.

If an item cannot be repaired on-site, volunteers may help identify replacement parts or explain why a repair isn't possible.

The event is sponsored by the City of Redlands and Ace Hardware.

Residents are encouraged to preregister their items at [repaircafe.ancaredlands.org](https://repaircafe.ancaredlands.org/?ref=communityforwardredlands.com) and select a drop-off time of 9, 10 or 11 a.m.

Priority will be given to preregistered participants, although walk-ins will be accepted until 11 a.m.

### Community discussion to focus on climate preparedness

ANCA Redlands will also host a free community conversation Wednesday, Oct. 28, titled "Did Someone Say El Niño?"

The discussion will explore how climate change is affecting Redlands and what residents can do to prepare for extreme weather.

Topics will include prolonged drought, extreme heat, intense storms and flooding, along with the city's efforts to strengthen community resilience.

Organizers hope to encourage residents to consider how prepared their households and neighborhoods are for climate-related emergencies.

The discussion comes as a strong El Niño is expected to bring wetter-than-average conditions to Southern California this winter. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's [2026-27 winter outlook](https://noaa.gov/news-release/el-nino-looms-large-over-us-winter-outlook?ref=communityforwardredlands.com), the weather pattern increases the likelihood of heavy precipitation, raising concerns about flooding and mudslides.

The discussion is free and open to the public.
